I wish I could find more in the Chicago newspapers on my relatives. I don’t know why I have such a hard time. Any suggestions?

Hmm. Where did they live during the period in which you are looking? I always have to remind myself that the newspapers that were popular when I grew up in the far west suburbs of Chicago were not necessarily the popular newspapers of their time. For example, I never really read the Herald but I have stumbled across articles in that paper that surprised me. The Inter Ocean was a mover and shaker for awhile.
Have you scoped the Library of Congress Chronicling America newspaper collection? http://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/ You may find a sleeper newspaper there that holds a treasure or two.

When my dad was born his mother supposedly lived at 3036 Sunnyside. I have no idea where that is. I know the different neighborhoods of Chicago. I will check out that source, thank you! I do think that they always lived either in Chicago proper and then Elmhurst, too.

This is the same area my Swedes lived in! I’ve had great luck with the Chicago Daily News. Are you trying to find information about a specific event?

Not really, although my dad’s uncle’s car accident would be a good one. And just to see if any of their names show up for anything.
