In response to Wednesday’s post, reader Mary M. shared the article below and this line from The Interocean, 16 Jan 1894, page 4 Column 5; “The body was subsequently identified as that of Louise Siebold No. 234 North Market St.”

Louise Siebold

Armed with this information, and curious about what led to Mrs. Siebold’s suicide, both Mary and I looked for additional records but neither of us had much luck. There is no Siebold or Seibold on Market Street in the 1892 Chicago City Directory at ChicagoAncestors. No death record or marriage record seems to exist on Ancestry or FamilySearch. There was no obituary on Newspapers.com.

It’s unlikely we will ever know what led Louise to commit such a desperate act. But several readers and I would like to know about her life prior to January 15, 1894.

Do you know who Louise Siebold was?

Oct 20th 1938 was the article of Nathalia Sieboth Kennedy’s death notice…..maybe related to Louise Siebold who was listed as jumping off a bridge….Jan 16 1894. Sieboth and Siebold are just to close in spelling.

Sounds like something we’ll need to investigate further!

At least we know she was identified. How sad! And frustrating that you can’t figure out any more about her at present.
