The following notices of death appeared on page 5 of the August 20, 1894 issue of the Chicago Daily News;

“BARGGREN-HANNORA BARGGREN (nee Ryan). Funeral at 9 o’clock, Tuesday, from her late residence, 1077 Seminary-av., to Mount Carmel church, thence to Calvary by carriages.”

“BANGS-Aug. 19, 1893 [sic], at Anchorage, Ky., NATHAN DUDLEY, son of Mrs. John B. Bangs of Louisville, Ky., and nephew of Mrs. James T. Hoyne of Chicago.”

“BORMANN-Aug. 29, IDA, daughter of the late Mary Bormann. Funeral Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 2 p.m., from 57 St. James-pl., to Graceland.”

“COSTELLO-Aug. 19, 1894, JOHN, beloved father of John Costello, Jr., aged 77 years; native of Ballingard, Ireland; former address 144 Newberry-av., now 154 W. 15th-st. Funeral notice hereafter.”

“KILBRIDGE-At her residence, 298 Center-av., MARY, wife of the late Patrick Kilbridge, member of Benevolent association and of Married Ladies sodality Holy Family church. Funeral Tuesday, Aug. 21, 1894, at 9 a.m., to Holy Family church, thence by cars to Calvary via C., M. & St. P. Ry.”

“KAVANAGH-Aug. 10, 1894, CHARLES F., beloved husband of Alice Kavanagh (nee Noonan), beloved son of James and Margaret Kavanagh, aged 29 years.”

“KENNELLY-Aug. 19, 1894, JOHN KENNELLY, aged 27 years and 11 days; member of Court Friendship No. 18 I.O.F. Funeral from his late residence Tuesday, Aug. 21, at 10 o’clock, to Church of the Holy Name, where high mass will be celebrated, thence by carriages to Calvary.”

“LALLY-MAMIE, beloved daughter of David and Sarah Lally, aged 18 years. Funeral Tuesday, at 2 p.m., from 8 Gault-pl., by carriages to Rose Hill.”

“MOLLWAY-Aug. 19, 1894, GEORGE W., beloved husband of Mary Mollway (nee Morris), aged 32 years 3 months and 10 days. Funeral from his late residence, 117 E. Ohio-st. Funeral notice hereafter.”

“MAGRATH-GERTRUDE BESSIE, infant daughter of James and Bessie Magrath, 611 Garfield-bd. Belfast (Ireland) papers please copy.”

“NOONAN-At 167 26th-st., Aug. 18, ELLEN, wife of the late Edward Noonan. Funeral from her late residence Tuesday, Aug. 21, at 9 a.m., to All Saints’ church, thence by carriages to Mount Olivet cemetery.”

“PETERS-Aug. 18, JOHN B. PETERS, aged 58 years and 4 months. Funeral from his late residence, 3121 LaSalle-st., Tuesday, Aug. 21, at 12 m., to St. Anthony’s church, thence by carriages to St. Boniface.”

“TRAGNITZ-Aug.19, 1894, JOHANNA, beloved wife of Charles Tragnitz, aged 57 years. Funeral from her late residence, 100 W. 14th-st., Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 1 p.m., to Waldheim cemetery.”

My transcription above is exactly as the notices appeared on pages 5 of the August 20, 1894 issue of the Chicago Daily News with the exception of quotation marks at the beginning and end of each obituary. Abbreviations, capitalizations and references to people, places and things are indicative of the era in which this information was published. When possible, the deceased are also memorialized on Find A Grave.
