Birth and marriage announcements are a rarity in the extant issues of the Chicago Daily News I transcribe. When I stumble upon them, I enjoy sharing these announcements with you. The following notices appeared on page 6 of the August 25, 1894 issue of the Chicago Daily News;

“NESWOLD-Aug. 25, to Mr. and Mrs. A.L. NESWOLD, 37 Moffat-st., a 16-lb daughter; mother and child dong well.”

SAUTER-VAN DEMPSKY-Chicago, Aug. 23, Mr. EMANUEL SAUTER was married to Miss AUGUSTA VAN DEMPSKY, from Cleveland, O. Cleveland (O.) papers please copy.”
