“At one time there were thousands of volunteers in every U.S. state” who volunteered their time and genealogical expertise to an organization called RAOGK – Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness according to a new organization by the same name.
For years I both volunteered and employed volunteers many times. Genealogy is very much a pay-it-forward hobby. I was saddened when the first RAOGK went by the wayside and inspired when I heard a new group was forming.
I encourage you to consider celebrating National Random Acts of Kindness day by becoming an official volunteer of this organization. Helping another genealogist with their research, even a tiny bit, is guaranteed to make you feel good.
