On this day in 1912 Juliette Gordon Low officially registered the organization’s first 18 girl members in Savannah, Georgia.
Most of my Girl Scout days were enjoyed as a junior scout. I had the best leader ever and have many fond memories of scouting.
This picture was taken after I marched in a parade as a cadet scout. My Girl Scout career ended shortly thereafter.
Wonder if it was ’cause of those knees. 🙂
Very cute picture, and the knees aren’t so bad! You must have been in Canada? The beret doesn’t look familiar. My uniform looked more like those of the younger girls behind you, sans beret. I adored Brownies, the younger version of Girl Scouts, with a truly wonderful leader. We “flew up,” as I remember it being called, in about 6th grade, which is about the age you appear to be. New leader, some of the same group of girls. This leader didn’t seem to have any fun ideas, and I soon quit. Too bad, as I too have wonderful memories of my earlier times in Brownies.

Nope, not Canada. I was a Cadet scout. It’s the stage after Junior, which is after Brownie. I had a fabulous Junior leader, but the Cadet leader wasn’t nearly as much fun. So like you, I soon quit. But I still have the best-ever sit-upon! 🙂
