Happy New Year

A new year.

A chance to do more things. Do better things. Perhaps do more things in better ways.

2024 will be a year of change for me. My work-outside-the-home hours will be reduced by half. What shall I do with “extra” time?

I started by asking myself what was important to me. What things might I regret not doing if I failed to do them? What really interests me? Which tasks give me a sense of accomplishment? A sense of joy?

The answers to these questions inspired me to revamp and reorganize my home office. The goal was to have a space more conducive to doing family history research and various other activities I enjoy.

Each time I found myself struggling to finish a task, I reviewed my environment. Did I need different lighting? Easier access to my research materials? Better storage options?

One improvement was adding casters to my large table/writing desk which raised my work surface nearly two inches. The height is more ergonomically correct for me as I am tall, and casters allow me to relocate my work surface when I want tNo cut sewing patterns from all four sides. Or just slide out of the sun’s glare on my laptop screen. This was a small change that made a big difference.

I have a few other changes in the works too. I look forward to sharing those with you and hope you’ll let me know what you have planned for this new year of ours.

Happy 2024 to you and yours!
