Lawsuit’s Sudden Ending

The following article appeared on page one of the June 15, 1880 Chicago Daily News;

“A LAWSUIT’S SUDDEN ENDING.

The case of Martin Blake, accused of attempting to murder Police Sergt. Quinn, came to an abrupt termination in the Criminal Court this morning. While the court was waiting for E. Hurlbut, a juror stricken with paralysis, to turn up, the prisoner arose and pleaded guilty to an assault with intent to do bodily injury. Sentence was reserved.”
