The following notices of death appeared on page one of the June 15, 1880 Chicago Daily News;
“CARAHER-On the 14th inst., CHARLES H. CARAHER, son of James and Hanna Caraher. Funeral Wednesday, at 10 a.m., from residence of parents, 50 13th place, to Calvary. Friends invited. Carriages free.”
“FITCH-Suddenly, June 13, of heart disease. EDWARD M. FITCH. Funeral from his late residence, 3623 Lake-av., on Wednesday, June 18, at 2 o’clock p.m. Friends are invited.
“McCARTHY-June 15, 1880, MARGARET McCARTHY, daughter of Timothy and Alice McCarthy, aged 9 months and 8 days. Funeral from residence, 176 W. Taylor-st., June 16, at 10 a.m., by carriages to Calvary Cemetery.”
“MILES-The funeral of the late F.S. MILES will take place to-day from 507 S. Halsted-st., at 1:30 p.m., by carriages to Oakwood.”
“SKINNER-June 5, at Herne, Tex., of hemorrhage of the lungs, JOHN H. SKINNER, son of Col. Holly Skinner, of this city, aged 26 years.”
“TENNEY-At 3 Lake-av., June 14, ANNIE, daughter of Ralph A. and Harriet N. Tenney, aged 22 years. Funeral from chapel of Sixth Presbyterian Church, corner of Vincennes and Oak-avs., Wednesday, at 3 p.m. Friends are invited to attend without further notice.”
“ZIMMERMAN-In this city, June 14, MARTHA J., beloved wife of William Zimmerman, aged 51 years 11 months and 20 days. Funeral from 646 W. Van Buren-st., Tuesday, June 15, at 2 o’clock p.m. Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery. Bloomington (Ill.) papers please copy.”
