1894 Obituaries: April 25

The sixth page of the April 25, 1894 issue of the Chicago Daily News contained the following death notices;

Calvary Cemetery (east entrance) by David M Habben

“DENNING-The remains of the late fireman, WILLIAM H. DENNING, will be raised and buried in his family lot Thursday, April 26, 1894. Train leaves Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul depot at 12:30 p.m., for Calvary. Special car for friends.”

“GOLDMAN-April 24, LESTER, brother of Louis Goldman, aged 31 years and 1 month. Will be buried April 26 at 10 o’clock in Waldheim cemetery. Buffalo (N.Y.), Manistique (Mich.), Rochester (N.Y.), Salem (O.), Ironton (O.) papers please copy.”

From the April 25, 1894 issue of the Chicago Daily News, page 12:

“BLACKMAN-The remains of the late KATY BLACKMAN will be taken from the vault in Rose Hill and be buried in her family lot Thursday, April 26, 1894. Train leaves Northwestern depot at 1 o’clock. Iowa papers please copy.”

“BAUER-April 25, 1894, EUGENE L., beloved husband of Helen Bauer and father of Harry, William and Eugene Bauer, Mrs. Fairchilds and Mrs. Peterman, aged 49 years. Funeral Friday, April 27, from his late residence, 973 Van Buren-st. St. Louis (Mo.), Pittsburg and Williamsport (Pa.) papers please copy.”

“BERGLAND-GEORGE STEPHEN, dearly beloved child of Peter and Hulda Bergland, aged 15 months. Funeral Thursday, April 26, at 2 o’clock, from parents’ residence, 96 Mozart-st. Burial at Graceland.”

“BACIGALUPI-April 24, 1894, ANGELLA, youngest child of Salvatore and Rossa Bacigalupi, aged 3 months and 15 days. Funeral Wednesday, at 11 a.m., from parents’ residence, 43 Michigan-st., to Italian Church of the Assumption, thence by cars to Calvary.”

“FITZPATRICK- April 24, 1894, JOSEPH, husband of Elizabeth Fitzpatrick, formerly of Kilkenny, Ireland, aged 38 years. Funeral Friday at 9:30 from 545 W. 14th-st., to Holy Family church, thence by carriages to Calvary; member of Reaper Council No. 456 N.U.”

“FORSBERG-JOHN, dearly beloved son of E. O. and Amanda Forsberg, aged 18 years. Funeral Thursday April 26, at 1 o’clock, from parents’ residence, 302 N. Franklin-st.”

“FRANKLIN-At her residence, 1044 W. 12th-st., April 24, Mrs. ANNIE FRANKLIN, beloved sister of P. Nacey, aged 53 years. Funeral Thursday, April 26, at 9:30 a.m., to St. Charles church, where high mass will be celebrated, thence by carriages to Calvary cemetery.”

“GOFF-At her son’s residence, 268 W. Randolph-st., April 24, 1894, Mrs. JENNET T., widow of Jacob T. Goff, aged 81 years. Grand Haven (Mich.) and Geneva (N.Y.) papers please copy.”

“GRANT-April 23, 1894, Mrs. MAGGIE GRANT, beloved wife of Michael Grant. Funeral from her late residence, 44 Artesian-av., Thursday, April 26, at 9 a.m., to St. Malachy’s church, thence by carriages to Calvary.”

“JACOBS-At her residence, 134 W. 15th-st., Tuesday, April 24, 1894, Mrs. THERESA JACOBS. Funeral Thursday, April 26, 9 a.m., to St. Francis’ church, thence by carriages to St. Mary’s cemetery.”

“LYNCH-April 25, 1894, HONORA, beloved wife of the late Patrick Lynch and mother of Patrick, Maggie and John Lynch and M. C. Flanigan. Funeral Friday at 9 o’clock from her late residence, 608 S. Union-st., to Sacred Heart church, where solemn high mass will be celebrated, thence to Calvary by C., M. & St. P. R.R. Members of Married Ladies’ sodality please attend.”

“MOHER-MAGGIE ELLEN, daughter of James and Margaret Moher (nee Quinn) and sister of Mrs. Kingley, aged 3 years 1 month and 7 days. Funeral from parents’ residence, 2845 Archer-av., by carriages to Calvary, Thursday, April 26, at 10 a.m. sharp.”

“M’NULTY-At her residence, 3744 Parnell-av., April 24, 1894, CATHARINE, beloved wife of James McNulty (nee Gallagar), aged 63 years, native of [Clanmarch?], County Mayo, Ireland. Funeral Thursday, April 26, at 9:30 a.m., to Church of Nativity, thence by cars to Calvary via C., M. & St. P. R.R.”

“MURPHY-FRANK MURPHY, son of the late John and Mary Murphy and brother of Lizzie Murphy, aged 18 years. Funeral Friday at 9:30 from his late residence, 261 Desplaines-st., to St. Patrick’s church, thence by carriages to Calvary.”

“MILLER-EDDY, beloved son of William and Johanna Miller, aged 5 months and 3 days. Funeral on Thursday, from parents’ residence, 3259 S. Canal-st., at 2 o’clock, to Oakwoods cemetery.”

“PAPINEAU-At her sister’s residence, Wednesday, April 25, 1894, Miss ETTIE PAPINEAU, aged 31 years. Funeral notice hereafter.”

“PETERS-April 23, at 7:40 a.m., HUGO PETERS, aged 37 years. Funeral from his late residence, 3943 Dearborn-st., on the 26th at 1 p.m.”

“QUIRK-April 24, AGNES B., daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Quirk (nee Buckley), aged 4 months. Funeral from parents’ residence, 3825 Honore-st., Thursday, April 26, at 12:30 to 23d-st. depot and to Sag Bridge.”

“RYAN-Mrs. MARGARET RYAN, 116 Ewing-st., will be buried from the vault at Calvary, on Thursday, April 26, at 12:30 p.m., by the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul railway.”

“RYAN- Mrs. MARGARET RYAN, late of 116 Ewing-st., will be buried from the vault at Calvary on Thursday, April 26, at 12:30 p.m.; Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul R’y.”

“VOGEL-At grandmother’s residence, 17 Spruce-st., MARY, only child of Mary Vogel (nee Welsh). Funeral Thursday at 10 a.m., by carriages to Calvary.”

“WAYMAN-April 24, 1894, at her residence, 337 W. Adams-st., JULIA, widow of the late Samuel Wayman. Funeral Thursday, April 26, at 1:30 p.m., from Fourth Baptist church.”

“WOLFF-Thursday at 2 p.m., beloved wife of David Wolff. Funeral from late residence, 539 Sedgwick-st., Thursday at 10 a.m., please omit flowers.”
