The following notices of death appeared on page 2 of the August 30, 1894 issue of the Chicago Daily News;
“Janshoff’s Wound Fatal – Louis Janshoff, who was found early yesterday morning in a yard at the rear of 3116 Butler street with his throat cut, died from the effects of the wound this morning at the county hospital. The dead man was 45 years of age and married. During a fit of despondency through his inability to obtain employment, he cut his throat with a razor.”
“CHARLESTON-Aug. 29, BENJAMIN H., only son of John F. and Kate Charleston, aged 4 years 7 months and 6 days. Funeral services at residence 523 S. Halsted-st., Aug. 31 at 1 o’clock p.m., thence to Rose Hill.”
“LAWLER-Wednesday, Aug. 29, MARY, wife of Michael Lawler. Funeral Friday, at 10 o’clock a.m., from late residence, at Leyden.”
“MARKEY-Aug. 30, MICHAEL, beloved son of the late Philip and Jane Markey. Funeral Saturday, 10 a.m., from late residence, 299 Hudson-av., to Church of the Immaculate Conception, thence by carriages to Calvary cemetery.”

“BINDER-Aug. 28, 1894, at 5442 Shields-av., LOUIE E., beloved husband of Matilda Binder, aged 43 years. Funeral Friday at 10 a.m. Burial at Oakwoods.”
“CRANE-Suddenly, at 8 a.m., Aug. 29, JOHN JAMES CRANE. Funeral from family residence, 289 Rumsey-st., Friday, at 10 a.m., by carriages to Calvary.”
“CLARK-At the residence of her parents, 302 Morgan-st., MARGARET, beloved daughter of John and Margaret Clark. Funeral Saturday at 9:30 by carriages to Calvary cemetery.”
“GREENEBAUM-Aug. 29, 1894, SOLOMON GREENEBAUM, aged 72 years. Funeral Friday, Aug. 31, 9 a.m., from his son’s residence, 1028 54th-ct.”
