The following notices of death appeared on page 2 of the August 30, 1894 issue of the Chicago Daily News;

“Janshoff’s Wound Fatal – Louis Janshoff, who was found early yesterday morning in a yard at the rear of 3116 Butler street with his throat cut, died from the effects of the wound this morning at the county hospital. The dead man was 45 years of age and married. During a fit of despondency through his inability to obtain employment, he cut his throat with a razor.”

“CHARLESTON-Aug. 29, BENJAMIN H., only son of John F. and Kate Charleston, aged 4 years 7 months and 6 days. Funeral services at residence 523 S. Halsted-st., Aug. 31 at 1 o’clock p.m., thence to Rose Hill.”

“LAWLER-Wednesday, Aug. 29, MARY, wife of Michael Lawler. Funeral Friday, at 10 o’clock a.m., from late residence, at Leyden.”

“MARKEY-Aug. 30, MICHAEL, beloved son of the late Philip and Jane Markey. Funeral Saturday, 10 a.m., from late residence, 299 Hudson-av., to Church of the Immaculate Conception, thence by carriages to Calvary cemetery.”

“BURKE-At 373 Winthrop-av., Argyle Park, LUKE, beloved husband of Alice Burke (nee Gallagher), father of Richard J., Sarah, Mary Burke. Funeral Friday, at 10 :30, from above address, to Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, thence to Calvary.”

“BINDER-Aug. 28, 1894, at 5442 Shields-av., LOUIE E., beloved husband of Matilda Binder, aged 43 years. Funeral Friday at 10 a.m. Burial at Oakwoods.”

“CRANE-Suddenly, at 8 a.m., Aug. 29, JOHN JAMES CRANE. Funeral from family residence, 289 Rumsey-st., Friday, at 10 a.m., by carriages to Calvary.”

“CLARK-At the residence of her parents, 302 Morgan-st., MARGARET, beloved daughter of John and Margaret Clark. Funeral Saturday at 9:30 by carriages to Calvary cemetery.”

“GREENEBAUM-Aug. 29, 1894, SOLOMON GREENEBAUM, aged 72 years. Funeral Friday, Aug. 31, 9 a.m., from his son’s residence, 1028 54^th-ct.”

“HOULIHAN-Aug. 30, THOMAS FRANCIS, beloved child of Timothy and Hannah Houlihan, aged 1 year 2 months and 27 days. Burial from 54 W. 13^th-st., to Calvary via C., M. & St. P. Ry.”

“JENSEN-Aug. 29, 1894, SOPHIA JENSEN (nee Sommer), wife of Hans Jensen, aged 35 years. Funeral Friday, Aug. 31, 2 p.m., from late residence, 207 Vine-st., by carriages to Graceland.”

“JOHNSON-RUTH MARIE, beloved daughter of Fred and May Johnson (nee Gorman), aged 2 years 6 months and 5 days. Funeral Friday at 2 p.m. from 1316 Cornelia-st.”

“KERRIGAN-PATRICK JOSEPH, beloved son of Thomas and Annie Kerrigan (nee Gannon), Aug. 29, 1894, aged 1 year 6 months and 3 days. Funeral Friday, Aug. 31, from parents’ residence, 2923 Union-av., at 10 a.m., by carriages to Mount Olivet.”

“LADY-FLORENCE ERMINIE, daughter of Worthy and Lillie Lady, aged 5 months and 18 days. Funeral Friday, Aug. 31, 3 o’clock, to Oakwoods cemetery.”

“M’DONOUGH-Aug. 28, KATE, beloved sister of Mrs. Mary Ward and Michael, James and the late John McDonough. Funeral from her late residence, 490 26th-st., Friday, Aug. 31, at 9 a.m., to All-Saints’ church, thence by carriages to Calvary.”

“MANGAN-THOMAS, youngest son of James and the late Sarah Mangan (nee Kirby), aged 8 months. funeral from 225 Aberdeen-st., Friday, Aug. 31, at 9:30, by carriages to Calvary.”

“NASH-Aug. 28, 1894, MAURICE, beloved husband of Ellen Nash (nee Sullivan), at his residence, 175 Milton-av. Funeral Friday, Aug. 31, at 10 o’clock, from late residence to Church of Holy Name, to Calvary.”

“PEASE-Aug. 30, 9:30 a.m., at 1623 Belmont-av., GEORGE A., son of James Pease, of diphtheria. Notice of funeral hereafter.”

“QUAID-BRIDGET QUAID (nee Bohan), at her residence, 113 Seward-st., Aug. 29, beloved wife of William Quaid and mother of Nellie, Daniel, William and Nora Quaid, sister of Mrs. Patrick Lynch, Andy and the late John Bohan.”

“RUSH-Aug. 29, PATRICK, beloved son of the late Patrick and Rebecca Rush, aged 10 yrs., 9 mths. Funeral Friday, Aug. 31, at 10 a.m., from residence of his sister, Mrs. J. Lynch, 169 W. 16th-st., thence by carriages to Calvary.”

“THOMPSON-Wednesday, Aug. 29, ANNIE CORINNE, only daughter of Charles and Mary Thompson, aged 5 months and 15 days. Funeral from parents’ residence, 54 Miller-st., Friday, Aug. 31 by carriages to Calvary at 9:30 a.m.”
