Looking back on my genealogy-related accomplishments in 2015, my thoughts go first to the one that brought me the most joy.

    I could not agree with you more! Also, thousands of tombstones are waiting to be photographed before vandalism or the elements take them away forever. Every lost tombstone is a lost piece of family history that cannot be replaced. As a Find a Grave photo volunteer I have received so many wonderful emails of thanks. People have said that seeing the grave photos have literally brought them to tears – especially in those rare cases where a photo of the deceased is inset into the tombstone. Taking grave photos for Find a Grave is one of the most fun and rewarding hobbies I have ever had. Give it a try!

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts Jim. Sometimes I am overwhelmed by how much there is to be done! Mostly though I just plug away; taking pictures, editing and uploading, adding memorials. We get one step closer to the goal of “everyone” memorialized everyday.

      Maybe once people see how amazing some of their local cemeteries are, they will pick up a camera and go. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
