1894 Obituaries: March 30

The following death notices were printed on page 7 of the March 30, 1894 issue of the Chicago Daily News:

“BLAIR-ALICE B. BLAIR (nee Moorhead), beloved wife of W. D. Blair, aged 27 years. Funeral Sunday at 12 o’clock, from residence of her brother W. H. Moorhead, 2869 Archer-av., by carriages to Rose Hill.”

“CAGNEY-ETHEL MARIE, youngest daughter of John J. and Mary Cagney, aged 10 weeks. Funeral Saturday from 34 Sibley-st.; private.”

“CATON-March 30, MYRTLE, beloved daughter of John and Joanna Caton (nee O’Hern), aged 1 year. Funeral Sunday, at 10 a.m., from parents’ residence, 6831 Champlain-av., by carriages to Mount Olivet.”

“DEADY-THOMAS, dearly beloved husband of Mary Deady and father of Richard, John and Lizzie. Funeral from late residence, 177 N. Ashland-av., Monday, April 2, at 9:30, to St. Columbkill’s, where high mass will be celebrated, thence by carriages to Calvary.”

“DOLL-At his residence, 746 W. 20th-st., 10:30 this morning, THOMAS DOLL. Funeral Sunday from late residence to St. Pius’ church; thence by carriages to Calvary.”

“HICKEY-March 29, 1894, at her residence, 433 69th-st., NELLIE E. HICKEY (nee Hughes), beloved wife of John H. Hickey, aged 32 years and 3 months. Funeral Sunday, April 1, from above number, to St. Bernard’s church, at 9:30 a.m., thence to Calvary via C., M. & St. P.R.R.”

“HICKEY(nee Hughes)-Beloved wife of Officer John H. Hickey, sister of Andrew F., Joseph H. and Thomas P. Hughes, formerly of 1816 Dearborn-st. Funeral from her late residence, 433 69th-st., Englewood, to St. Bernard’s Catholic church, at 9 a.m., Sunday, April 1, thence by cars to Calvary cemetery.”

“METZGER-March 28, 1894, MARGURETTA, beloved daughter of Adolph and Anna Metzger and sister of Mrs. H. Eichsteadt and Mrs. C. Lodding and Mrs. J. Seigler and Herman and Louis Metzger.”

“MURBACH-At his parents’ home, Wheeling, Ill., March 27, 1894, EDWARD MURBACH, formerly of 1194 Milwaukee-av. Funeral at Wheeling Friday, March 30, at 1 p.m.”

“NILDER-JOHN NILDER, aged 63. Leaves wife, son, daughter and sister, Mrs. H. J. Potter. Funeral Sunday April 1, 11:45 a.m., at congregational church at Cragin; carriage to Mount Olive.”

“PURVIS-March 29, 1894 ROBERT J. PURVIS, aged 40 years. Funeral Sunday, April 1, at 2 p.m., from his late residence on Ridge-av., Edgewater, to Rose Hill.”

“SCOTT-WILLIAM F., beloved son of Lucian and Mary Scott and brother of Mrs. M. J. Lahey, aged 31 years. Funeral from parents’ residence, 5227 Kinzie-st., Saturday, at 9 a.m., to St. Catherine’s church, thence by carriages to Calvary.”

“SHERIDAN-March 29, 1894, JOHN J., beloved son of John J. and Annie Sheridan, aged 1 month and 29 days. Funeral Saturday, at 11 a.m., from residence, 51 E. Ontario-st., by carriages to Calvary cemetery.

“SULSER-March 29, 1894, at 5:20 o’clock p.m., JESSIE L., daughter of Joab and Bridget Sulser, aged 22 years and 7 months. Residence 3003 Dearborn-st. Funeral notice hereafter.”
